Innovation Project Engineer


    Your challenge

    • Responsible for MANN+HUMMEL filtration media and elements innovation projects including development, engineering, and market entry of innovative solutions, products, services, and business models.
    • Coordinate MANN+HUMMEL projects during all phases (study, incubation, and acceleration) of the Innovation Process ranging from analyzing initial ideas with studies right through to planning and executing Market Entry for proven concepts.
    • Handle all engineering aspects of MANN+HUMMEL filtration media and elements innovation projects including: concept design and development, detailed design and prototype development, creation of specification, testing and relevant documentation, and risk analysis.
    • Use MANN+HUMMEL project management tools to track milestones, resources, budget, and technical status (time, quality, and cost); present project status and results to steering committees and upper management, and make recommendations to project further execution based on the Product Equilibrium.
    • Assess, analyze, and make recommendations based on economic feasibility and financial analysis of MANN+HUMMEL filtration media and elements projects and innovations.
    • Coordinate cost analysis and detailed cost calculations of technical concepts, support the development of initial business models during Market Entry Plan phases; use financial evaluation tools to assess and drive decisions on projects based on business cases.
    • Perform intellectual property work including patent applications for ideas generated, patent research and analysis and freedom to operate, development of MANN+HUMMEL patent strategies to ensure optimal protection of IP generated during projects; and prepare documentation and execution of lessons learned.

    Your profile

    • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Textile Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.
    • Two years of experience as a Project Engineer, Product Engineer, Simulation Engineer, Mechanical Engineer or closely related occupation.
    • Also requires two years of experience with R&D projects; filter applications and filter media; application of air/liquid filtration; liquid filtration media (single and multilayer systems) and respective ISO standards applied in the automotive industry; oil filtration products (synthetic and cellulose-based); leading melt extrusion production trials (i.e. Meltblown, Spunbond, Biax as well as fiber spinning); and microstructure simulation including media generation using GeoDict, simulating and evaluating filtration processes using GeoDict, and MATLAB and Python for coding macros for automatization, developing post-simulation analysis tools and driving software alterations.
