Your challenge

The Material Planning and Logistics Manager will direct or coordinate production, purchasing, warehousing, distribution or financial forecasting services or activities to limit costs and improve accuracy, customer service or safety.

  • Manage day-to-day supply and logistics activities to maximize the efficiency, reliability, timeliness, and cost effectiveness of the organization’s supply chain. 
  • Manage and direct materials planning and control, procurement, inventory management, storage, warehousing, logistics, transport and distribution.
  • Direct the movement, storage or processing of inventory to ensure a cost-effective flow of activities.
  • Develop and implement schedules and procedures. 
  • Allocate resources to meet targets in areas such as transit and delivery times; inventory levels; purchasing, warehousing and storage costs.
  • Liaise with functional and operations area managers to ensure supply activities are integrated with other parts of the business.
  • Lead, direct, evaluate and develop staff to ensure resources are used effectively and work schedules and targets are met.
  • Responsible for inventory control program and process flow covering the end-to-end supply chain solution. 
  • Support optimization warehouse functions.
  • Actively involved in data capturing and audit programs, physical inventory, cycle counting, delivery and non-conformance material flow process.
  • Develop & maintain plant capacity & ensure customers requirements can be met.
  • Prepare rolling capacity & demand summaries to ensure operational efficiency is capable of meeting requirements.
  • Maintain department KPI’s & strategic action planning.
  • Examine existing procedures or opportunities for streamlining & improvement to increase effectiveness & reduce cost
  • Maintain SAP production orders to ensure material planners are releasing the correct material & inventory is minimized.
  • Drive supply chain initiatives between sales and operations.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Integrated Supply Chain Management or related field and 2 years of Supply Chain Management experience, OR Associates degree and 4 years of Supply Chain Management experience.
  • Minimum 5 years’ supply chain experience within a manufacturing facility.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing/production processes.
  • Experience with or knowledge of raw materials planning/production scheduling processes.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to lead, train and mentor employees on a personal and professional level.
  • Working knowledge of SAP ERP system.
  • Working knowledge of Automotive Customer Portals, ASN/EDI transmissions.
  • Ability to use self-initiative and be able to work well under pressure.
  • Must have strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills necessary to work in a cooperative team environment.

Preferred Skills: 

  • MP&L management experience in a Tier 1 automotive manufacturing environment
