A member of the Project Core Team, the Project Quality Engineer represents the customer voice within the team and ensures the interface with customers and internally with the other functions on quality matters.

Your challenge

  • Manage the APQP process with suppliers for purchased parts for new projects until SOP.
  • Provide an ongoing support to the customers regarding all technical issues and ensure high quality customer service (follow-up of orders, customer visits, cost/revenue analysis in cooperation with the project controlling, prepare and conduct customer presentations).
  • Initiate, Track and Verify all aspects of the supplier APQP process for purchased parts and inter-company partners.
  • Conduct process releases and production readiness verifications at suppliers as needed (e.g.: Run @ Rate).
  • Communicate lessons learned and provide support within the SQD network and support in standardization and continuous improvement of the APQP process for purchased parts.
  • Ensures customer and internal MANN+HUMMEL quality requirements are reflected in the APQP process.
  • An expert on the APQP tools (including customer specific tools) within the project team.
  • Has the authority to stop any process or product delivery in case of non-conformity.
  • Responsible for all quality tasks as defined in xSEP and evaluates the content and completion of the APQP tasks within each project phase.
  • Reviews the customer and internal drawings (AZ, WZ) with the Lead Design Engineer to ensure correct notation of dimensions & special characteristics (tolerances, critical dimensions) and other important specifications are defined on the drawing prior to drawing release.
  • Responsible for conformity of any parts delivered to the customer at each stage of the development phase before SOP and for release of samples before shipment.
  • Coordinates the customer PPAP Package and responsible for obtaining customer PPAP approval.
  • Leads the problem-solving process of customer claims or internal deviations before SOP and supports the production location during the launch phase (6-months after SOP) including the update of quality related documents.
  • Responsible to obtain approval from the site production team for the project quality handover documentation as listed in the IPT checklist prior to Gate 6.Present the project to the customer.

Your profile

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering and at least 3 years’ experience in the automotive or related manufacturing industry working with quality tools, OR High School Diploma with 7 years’ experience in the automotive or related manufacturing industry working with quality tools

Required Skills:

  • Ability to interpret drawings and requirements for ensuring the adherence to Quality parameters
  • Required travel to support launch activities at sister plants & supplier locations, some international travel may be required
  • Quality engineering (APQP procedures, 8D, control plan, capability analysis, MSA, SPC, FMEA, GD&T, Gage Design)
  • Able to use Microsoft Office tools, xSEP, Engineering Workflows, CDB, QStat, Apis IQ-FMEA, and SAP
