The Indian market for commercial vehicles offers attractive growth potential. Therefore, MANN+HUMMEL has launched two new standard products on the market there, an air cleaner and an oil spin-on filter.

The advantage of standard products is that they are developed and manufactured independent of an individual customer. As a result, quick market launches of new products can be realized. The first customer of both new products is the Indian manufacturer Volvo Eicher Commercial Vehicles (VECV). The MANN+HUMMEL products are applied in more than ten models of the light and medium duty truck series.

The very compact air cleaner with integrated pre-separation cyclone is an expansion of the current standard product range. It has a high dust holding capacity at a very small pressure drop increase. As the performance is very good there is no need for the customer to add an external pre-cleaner. The new air cleaner with excellent filtration efficiency is manufactured at the MANN+HUMMEL plant in Bawal, India.

The long-life combi spin-on oil filter on the other hand is newly available as a standard product and offers a long service interval. Combi spin-on oil filter means that both full-flow element and bypass element are integrated in one spin-on unit. A noticeable fact is that the spin-on oil filter produced in Changchun, China, is applicable for 55 percent of VECV’s complete requirement of oil filters.

In both cases MANN+HUMMEL used its extensive filtration competence and know-how to realize a compact design and at the same time very good service intervals – 60,000 kilometers for the air cleaner and even 120,000 kilometers for the spin-on oil filter. Comprehensive tests on engine test benches as well as ongoing field trials on vehicles confirm the excellent performance. Again, MANN+HUMMEL engineers succeeded in providing technically superior products while meeting cost targets.
