MANN+HUMMEL presents its latest generation of ProVent2 crankcase ventilation systems for diesel engines. In terms of service life, separation efficiency and OEM cost the new product is a leader in comparison to existing solutions on the market.
Ludwigsburg, November 12, 2017 - MANN+HUMMEL, filtation expert and development partner to the international automotive and mechanical engineering industries will present the first size of its new ProVent2 product family for crankcase ventilation. In terms of service life, separation efficiency and OEM cost the new product is a leader in comparison to existing solutions on the market.
ProVent2 200 was developped for engines blow-by gas volume flows up to 200 l/min (up to approx. 350 kW). The ProVent2 200 will be available from the end of 2017 and the series will be successively extended up to completion in 2019. The complete series covers engines in the range from 50 kW to 4 MW.
Thanks to a new coalecing media the ProVent2 achieves a service life of at least 2,000 operating hours and therefore offers a lifetime which is four times longer than that of the previous version of ProVent. Depending on the application, the ProVent2 is therefore an alternative to lifetime parts available on the market, in particular due to its very low OEM cost.
The task of realizing a high separation efficiency in modern diesel engines with their considerably smaller oil droplet spectrum is a challenge. Test bench measurements verify ProVent2 200 achieves a separation performance which has reached efficiencies >99%.
ProVent2 is a crankcase ventilation system with integrated oil separation which reduces vehicle emissions. The series is designed for the latest generation of turbocharged engines. The ProVent2 series uses a coalescence separator to separate the oil mist contained in the blow-by gas and reduces the residual oil content to a minimum. A high performance oil separator and a pressure regulating unit are integrated in the system. The compact unit is characterized by its robust but also light design. ProVent2 protects the turbocharger and components fitted downstream from deposits containing oil. This efficient concept is designed for industrial engines and covers a volume flow range of approx. 10 to 1000 liters of blow-by gas per minute. A parallel installation can be used to also manage a higher volume flow rate to cover additional engine power classes. ProVent2 offers excellent flexibility with regard to the selection of the mounting position on the engine or in the engine compartment. The product range is complemented by additional safety and return valves to make the fitting even more flexible and protect the whole system.
