Your challenge

The Lead Buyer is the key purchasing commodity specialist and subject matter expert in Filter Media and Chemicals supply chain purchasing within NAFTA

  • Definition and execution of Material Group (MG) and Supplier strategies. Manages the execution of global supplier strategy and key strategic initiatives, within NAFTA
  • Coordination and management of suppliers
  • Negotiation of frame contracts / LTAs
  • First decision level in top escalation issues regarding his/her material group within NAFTA
  • Coordination and preparation of material Planning and Forecasting
  • Coordination and management of RFQ- and Sourcing Decision process also for global projects in alignment with MGM and Project Purchasing
  • Analysis of sourcing pipeline, coordination of supplier selection with Commodity Buyers and in agreement with MGM
  • Identification, initiation and transfer of material savings projects, within and across NAFTA
  • Active analysis of supplier base in the Hub, indication of actions – supplier panel management ratio projects, renegotiation, bundling, other change activities
  • Risk and Constraint Management for suppliers in responsibility, actively monitors risks indicators of supply base and initiates appropriate actions in case identified risks
  • Material savings target achievement for NAFTA

Your profile

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university (Business, Supply Chain or Engineering) or related field

Experience:

  • 5 years’ relevant work experience in supply chain purchasing within the NAFTA environment
  • Experience in industrial companies or manufacturing enterprises
  • Technical expertise in filter media and chemicals (adhesives)
  • Experience with raw materials and commodities markets
  • Inventory programs and vendor managed inventory agreements
  • Experience with SAP / SAP BW

Required Skills:

  • Microsoft office tools including advanced proficiency with Excel  
  • Strong negotiating skills
  • Root cause analysis
  • Technical understanding of product/process engineering
  • Working knowledge of AQPQ process for purchasing components
  • Strong problem-solving acumen
  • Ability to identify and develop new supply sources and manage existing suppliers
  • Able to travel 15-25% throughout the NAFTA region

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in automotive or transportation sectors
  • Experience working with the Automotive Aftermarket
  • Experience/understanding total end cost analysis including make verses buy
