Job Description
Role Summary
The role incumbent advises the Plant Manager, the entire management team and all employees of the plant regarding HSE and provides them with related information. Gives assistance to ensure and checks for legal compliance regarding HSE.
Main Tasks
- Advises the Plant Management to ensure:
- o safe and state of the art processes in order to prevent environmental incidents and pollution
- o safe and ergonomic working conditions in order to prevent occupational accidents as well as occupational diseases and illnesses.
- Responsible to check HSE related legal requirements / binding obligations and to provide the management with related information and suggestions.
- Defines and suggests adequate measures in case of HSE related deviations and incidents.
- Coordinates the implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of the local HSE management system in accordance with the requirements of ISO 14001, ISO 45001,IATF 16949 and MANN+HUMMEL Group standards.
- Provides training and methodological support in machine safety
- Provides training and methodological support in HSE risk assessment of work equipment, installations, materials and processes prior to implementation and during operation
- Evaluates and releases - from HSE point of view – machines, work equipment, installations, materials and processes prior to implementation and after changes.
- Defines a catalogue of released Personal Protective Equipment related to the scope of production processes and infrastructure
- Assists the management in working out and executing the emergency plan.
- Reviews incidents and advises on appropriate improvement measures (e.g. Alert, 8D, Lessons Learned)
- Communicates with the authorities and insurance companies on HSE topics
- Ensures and controls the fulfilment of internal HSE procedures and standards
- Ensures the planning and execution of internal and external HSE audits acc. to ISO 14001/ ISO 45001, IATF 16949 and insurance audit, incl. tracking the related action plans
- Performs internal audits acc. to ISO 14001/ ISO 45001 as an internal auditor locally and within the region.
- In case of major HSE related deviations escalates to Plant Manager and regional Quality & HSE
- Supports the Plant Manager in setting targets, defining actions, monitoring target achievement and reviewing HSE conformity
- Responsible to provide authorities and management with demanded HSE relevant data and information
- Owns responsibilities of and fulfils tasks required from an appointed HSE Specialists under local legislation

Qualifications
- Bachelor / Masters of engineering in environmental sciences, safety engineering, HSE management or engineering with equivalent degree, e.g. certified safety professional (CSP)
- Additional qualification regarding environmental protection preferred (e. g. waste, water pollution control, emission control, etc.)
Skills & Experience
Required:
- At least 5 to 8 years experience in a HSE specialist or leadership role
- Working experience with ISO 14001, ISO 45001 certifications and IATF16949
- Ability to work together with all hierarchical levels in a cooperative, target-oriented and appropriate way as well as to communicate HSE-related subjects with both enthusiasm and conviction
- Excellent knowledge of HSE-related legislation, compliance and legal requirements
- Excellent knowledge of machine safety standards
- Experience of Process & System Audits
- Fluent in written and oral local language and English communications
- Ability to use Microsoft Office tools and SAP as well as interact and collaborate through digital tools and understand appropriate digital communication
- HSE understanding and compliance
- Expertise in Problem Solving and Knowledge of Shopfloor Management and Production Basics
- In order to maintain qualification, the local HSE Specialist attends training courses at least every 3 years. Depending on local obligations, shorter training intervals may also be required. Relevant topics for the refresher trainings are e.g. HSE management methods, HSE legislations or HSE technologies
Preferred:
- Skilled in business management
- M+H product and manufacturing process knowledge
- Experience in automotive manufacturing and lean manufacturing tools
