MANN+HUMMEL presents its formula for success at IAA TRANSPORTATION 2026

Efficiency, sustainability and reliability as key levers for optimizing total cost of ownership

Ludwigsburg, September 1, 2026. Reflecting its core promise, “Your Success is our Mission”, MANN+HUMMEL will demonstrate at IAA TRANSPORTATION 2026 in Hanover how filtration solutions can deliver benefits throughout the entire lifecycle of vehicles and machinery. The focus will be on three closely connected factors: efficiency, sustainability and reliability.

“For our customers, the purchase price of a component is only one part of the equation. What is decisive is how it impacts fuel consumption, maintenance, availability and service life throughout its entire operating life,” says Hasmeet Kaur, President Transportation. “At IAA, we will use concrete calculations to demonstrate how filtration can influence the total cost of ownership of an individual vehicle as well as entire fleets.” 

Efficiency: Lowering operating costs through intelligent engineering

MANN+HUMMEL combines lightweight design, optimized flow paths, intelligent system integration and demand-based thermal management. This enables filtration systems to operate more efficiently, reduces energy demand and lowers operating costs over the entire lifecycle.

Using an oil filter module as an example, the technology leader demonstrates how detailed technical optimizations can deliver economic benefits over the entire operating life. An optimized valve design reduces component-related pressure loss by up to 40 percent. Depending on the application and operating profile, this results in calculated potential savings of up to 400 liters of fuel and up to 1.3 metric tons of CO₂ per vehicle over an assumed operating life of 25,000 hours. When applied across an entire fleet, these figures illustrate the econom.

Sustainability: Reducing raw material use and the carbon footprint

Bio-based lignin makes a difference: It replaces some of the conventional phenolic components used to impregnate filter media. Compared with an exclusively conventional phenolic impregnation, this approach reduces crude oil use for the impregnation process by up to 27 percent and its carbon footprint by up to five percent.1 The required filtration performance and technical material properties are maintained. 

Reliability: Keeping vehicles and machinery running

Durable solutions, comprehensive engineering expertise and a global development and production network enable reliable filtration that protects critical components. This helps minimize component wear, supports high system availability and enables predictable maintenance intervals. 

At IAA, MANN+HUMMEL will demonstrate how this expertise can be applied to other applications through a broad hydraulic filtration portfolio. The portfolio addresses applications including truck bodies and trailers, such as concrete mixers and tipper trucks. One example is the compact, modular in-tank return filter. It protects pumps, valves and cylinders from harmful particles, helping to reduce unplanned downtime and extend the service life of hydraulic systems.
