MANN-FILTER Mamba concludes the 2023 DTM season in the top 5 at Hockenheimring
The DTM finale at Hockenheimring was once again a highly exciting affair for the Mercedes-AMG Team MANN-FILTER. With fifth place, the team concluded its first-ever season with a respectable result.

Ludwigsburg, October 22, 2023 – As expected, the DTM finale at Hockenheimring attracted thousands of motorsport fans to the race track in Baden-Württemberg in outstanding autumn weather. In two exciting races on Saturday and Sunday, the MANN-FILTER Mamba completed impressive catch-up races and finished in 17th and 5th place.
Late autumn temperatures of 18 degrees, thrilling races and hands-on motor sport – last weekend, crowds flocked to Hockenheimring to be close to the racing action at the DTM finale. After an eventful season that started well and presented some challenges along the way, it was important for MANN-FILTER and the popular Mamba to offer the numerous fans a conciliatory end to the home race. The premium filtration brand also made the most of the extraordinary atmosphere off the track at the DTM finale for an intimate exchange with customers and fans.
Just missed out on points in the first race at Hockenheimring
In the first qualifying session of the final DTM weekend at the 4.574 km circuit in Hockenheim, Maro Engel and his MANN-FILTER Mamba were unfortunately quickly facing the first set of challenges. The LANDGRAF Motorsport team had to settle for 21st on the grid. In the first race on Saturday Maro Engel finally managed to make up a few places and finished 17th, but unfortunately it was not enough to score any points.
MANN-FILTER Mamba with great catch up performance in the second race
In the last qualifying session of the 2023 season, Maro Engel then finished in tenth place at the wheel of the popular MANN-FILTER Mamba, securing good conditions for the final race on Sunday. The tension was high for the last race of the year. The starting shot was fired and all fans dressed in yellow and green once again hoped for the best.
After an impressive catch-up race, which put Engel on the podium temporarily, the AMG driver lost two places shortly before the end of the race and brought the MANN-FILTER Mamba across the finish line in a good fifth place in the final race. “Unfortunately, we didn't manage to finish on the podium,” said Maro Engel after the race. “All in all, the season has been very emotional and I would like to thank everyone who has been on our side and supported us race after race.”
Filippina Manou, sponsorship manager at MANN-FILTER, looks back on the season, saying "the season has been a real rollercoaster ride for us. It started well, presented us with a few challenges along the way and at least ended on a positive note with the second race at Hockenheim. Maro once again gave everything in the last two races, but more than fifth place on Sunday was simply not possible. However, it was really nice to see all the support from the customers and fans who came along to our home race and supported us. Many employees from Speyer and Ludwigsburg also came to Hockenheim to cheer on the Mamba and experience it live. All in all, it was a successful season finale."
The finale at Hockenheimring marks the end of an exciting first season in DTM for the MANN-FILTER Mamba. The 2023 season was dominated by many highs and lows for the team, Maro Engel and the premium filtration brand, and a conciliatory finish with fifth place in the last race. In the championship, Maro Engel finished tenth in the drivers’ ranking, while the Mercedes-AMG Team MANN-FILTER secured eighth place in the team ranking.
