MANN+HUMMEL presents new technologies for construction machines

Ludwigsburg/München, April 8, 2019 – Clean air, predictive service through digital elements, energy efficiency as well as pure urea and fuel. The new technologies presented by the filtration specialist MANN+HUMMEL at the bauma trade fair in Munich, which begins today, bring these benefits. The focus of the developments is on filtration, systems competence and proximity to customers worldwide.

Powerful IQORON VP and ENTARON air cleaners protect the drive system 

The IQORON VP range from MANN+HUMMEL offers a flexible filtration concept which shows its strengths especially in extremely dusty environments. The two-stage air cleaners which make the most of installation space complements conventional round air cleaners and with nominal flow rates from 14 to 33 cubic meters per minute provides the necessary flexibility for numerous applications. The core element of the compact air cleaner series is the innovative filter element concept called VarioPleat. It provides a particularly high power density with filter systems with an axial air flow.

MANN+HUMMEL knows about the sensitivity of the fuel cell and has further developed an air cleaner from the ENTARON HD range. The catalog component which is usually equipped with a conventional filter element with a cellulose media is now fitted with a new activated carbon filter element. This allows the air cleaner to separate particles and also adsorb harmful gases in order to provide the best protection for the fuel cell. The air cleaner is available as a single- or two-stage air cleaner and depending on the customer requirements can be flexibly mounted. For even greater cell protection an optional safety element made from a non-woven fabric is also available which ensures that the air on the clean side remains clean during service.

Predictive maintainance through digital air cleaner monitor Senzit

With the help of sensors, Senzit measures the status of air cleaners in real time. This applies to industrial applications and mobile fleets (such as those on construction sites, in agriculture, in opencast mining or in mines) as well as in stationary use with generators. Senzit immediately transfers the result to the user's mobile device. The air cleaner monitor offers users added value by displaying not only the loading status of the air cleaner but also its remaining service life, GPS coordinates and machine hours worked.

Efficient crankcase ventilation using ProVent2

The compact ProVent2 range for crankcase ventilation offers a particularly high separation efficiency and enables an easy service through fast access and confusion protection for replacement elements. The series separates the oil droplets from the blowby gas with a coalescence separator and reduces the remaining oil content to a minimum. With an optimized filter element with a high-efficient media made from glass fiber and a non-woven fabric, the ProVent² range impresses with a service life which is up to eight times longer than comparable solutions.

Reliable engine operation due to compact urea filter module and three-stage water separation

In construction and agricultural machines, urea filters are required to offer high performance as they are subject to high workloads. Selective catalytic reduction (SCR) systems used in off‑highway vehicles now face new challenges. It is not sand in the transmission, but dust from the environment which the manufacturers of construction and agricultural machines find difficult to cope with. For example, the urea solution used to clean the exhaust gas of these kind of systems becomes more quickly contaminated, possibly due to filling up the tank in a contaminated environment or because the SCR tank is not sufficiently aerated and ventilated. MANN+HUMMEL developed the patented urea filter module to ensure the best possible starting time for the SCR system, robust operation, well-coordinated service intervals, and efficient protection for the feed pump.

In addition to reducing fuel contaminations, separating water from the fuel is crucial for reliable engine operation. MANN+HUMMEL offers fuel filters with three-stage water separation and high-efficient filter media. This ensures reliable and robust protection of the injection system over the entire service life of the engine.

Fast and clean service through WAVELOCK

The innovative WAVELOCK spin-on filter concept enables easy, quick and clean servicing. MANN+HUMMEL has, for the time being, developed the system for use in off road applications and offers a product variant mounted to the engine and also a product variant mounted to the chassis. A key element of the design is a bayonet lock which securely joins the filter head to the spin-on filter and simultaneously simplifies servicing. MANN+HUMMEL will in future offer its range of WAVELOCK spin-on filters as a modular system which is to be expanded in the coming years to include other sizes.
