Role Summary
Supply Planner is responsible for managing materials within the supply chain with the goal to ensure seamless and efficient (production), processes, to minimize (inventory) costs and to meet customer demand. They secure the smooth flow of materials by optimizing storage location of materials, reviewing new materials for correct fit as well as ensuring the timely availability of materials and resources with the organization.
Main Tasks
Is responsible for managing, analyzing and optimizing the flow of materials as well as the availability of resources within a company’s supply chain. Ensuring that materials are available when and where needed and that (new) materials are fitting, while minimizing inventory costs and maintaining efficient production processes.
− Coordinating with production teams to develop production schedules that align with material availability, customer demand and assembly needs
− Monitoring inventory levels and implementing strategies to optimize inventory turnover, to minimize carrying costs and to ensure adequate safety stock levels
− Reviewing (new) materials for correct fit, approving part or material requisitions and initiating production and purchase change orders as necessary
− Resolving schedule, material requirement or business system problems by collaborating with cross-functional representatives
− Maintaining strong relationships with suppliers, monitoring their performance and identifying opportunities for cost savings and process improvements
− Analyzing material requirements based on assembly demands, component replenishments, production set-ups, engineering changes and enterprise supplies
− Analyzing data related to material usage, inventory levels and production performance to identify trends, patterns and improvement opportunities
− Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including logistics, production and quality assurance to ensure effective communication and coordination throughout the supply chain
Educational Requirements
− High School diploma / GED
Experience Requirements
− 2-3 years of experience in Supply Chain Management, Materials Management, Inventory Control, Customer Service or a related role
Skills Requirements
− Proficient in SAP or Sage ERP systems; advanced Microsoft Excel and Office Suite skills
− Strong knowledge of MRP systems, inventory management, order management and production planning
− Skilled in data analysis, forecasting, and use of tools like Power BI
− Excellent cross-functional communication, time management, and problem-solving skills
Preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering or a related field
